TYPES OF RESPIRATION
1. Aerobic Respiration
- It needs the presence of O2 and occurs in the mitochondria.
- Glucose is completely broken down to CO2 and H2O.
- It releases more energy.
- it occurs in most organisms (in all higher forms of life ).

2. Anaerobic Respiration
- Anaerobic respiration occurs in the absence of O2 in the cytoplasm.
- It results in the incomplete oxidation of glucose into LACTIC ACID (in animals ) or ETHYL ALCOHOL (in plants).
- It releases lesser energy.
- It takes place in certain bacteria, yeast, and certain tissues of higher organisms.
